Water Damage - What you can do before SERVPRO Arrives

We'll for sure be faster to any size disaster but also know that you can begin the process yourself before we arrive.  Read on for some helpful tips.  

1. Shut off your water source. Before water mitigation can begin make sure the situation isn't getting any worse.  If you have a pipe with a leak or a burst pipe, make sure your water has been shut off and if possible, have your pipe fixed.

2. Begin the extraction process.  Grab your mop, mop bucket and plenty of towels to start the process.  SERVPRO will begin the extraction immediately upon arrival, but the sooner you can start the process on your own the less damage you will have.

3.  Remove furniture and contents. If you have a dry area to move your furniture and contents then start the process as soon as possible.  Mold growth can begin if your belongings sit in water for too long.
