Celebrate Summer Safety

With summer months comes barbecues, parades and fireworks.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, hundreds are injured badly enough to require medical treatment after fireworks-related incidents. We all love firing up the grill during the summer months. So that makes July the peak month for grill fires. SERVPRO of Jefferson City wants our customers to take proper safety precautions while enjoying your backyard barbecues so please consider the following tips to keep your summer celebrations disaster-free!
- Only use propane and BBQ grills outdoors.
- Place grill well away from your home, deck railings and out from under eaves and overhanging branches.
- Keep children and pets away from grill area.
- Keep your grill clean by removing grease or fat buildup from the grills and in trays below the grill.
- Never leave your grill unattended.
- Let charcoal grills completely cool before disposing in a metal container.
- Wear protective eyewear when lighting or standing near fireworks.
- Do not try to re-light or handle malfunctioning fireworks.
- Attend a public display of fireworks. It's the safest way to enjoy your 4th of July celebration.
