No one wants a grease fire. There are a few general practices you can do to help prevent this disaster from invading your home. In the case that a grease fire does happen there are tips to help you be best prepared for that too.

A few simple daily tasks you can do top keep your kitchen a safe space. One thing you want to do is keep a clean workspace in the kitchen. You can use soap and water to clean up any spill or grease. You never want to pour grease down a drain or into the trashcan unless it is fully cooled. The oils are hot when heated and can cause a fire.

In case of a fire, you need to know a few important things. When cooking always make sure there is an extinguisher near the stove. Grease fires cannot be put out with water. Water makes a grease fire grow and spread. If you do not have an extinguisher, you need to place a metal lid above the fire to deprive it of oxygen. You can also use salt or baking soda in an emergency. You want to be prepared as best as possible for a crisis.
